"Special Award" on the occasion of the presentation of prizes "Historic Hotel / Restaurant of 2008"

The Safran Zunft received a “special award“ for the professional maintenance and renovation of the historic building and the business philosophy on the occasion of the ICOMOS presentation of prices on the 20 of September 2007.  
 
ICOMOS, International Council On Monuments and Sites, is a non-governmental organization of professionals, dedicated to the conservation and exploitation of the world’s historic hotels, monuments and sites. Historic buildings should not only be museums, they should also be inhabited and serve for business purposes.  
 
It is a great pleasure and honour for us to receive this award. For more than 10 years, we have successively invested in infrastructure and renovated rooms. At the end of the nineties, we rebuilt the kitchen and the food arranging area of the restaurant, then we rehabilitated the restaurant and the guild rooms. In 2005, we renewed the staircase, the entrance hall and the lobby. New special custom-made chandeliers have been illuminating the guild hall since spring 2007.  
 
Tradition is also important when it comes to our culinary offer. In the sixties, the restaurant proprietor, Jean Moser, created the Fondue Bacchus which is still a bestseller. Channel Safari, Guild Feast and Saffron Stroll are offers for banquet organizers and are ideal for historical programs.
